Volunteers, Nominations Sought

The Health Policy Statistics Section (HPSS) is soliciting volunteers and nominations for roundtable discussion leaders at JSM 2011. Roundtables are fee-event activities of which there are two types:

  • A.M. Roundtables (formerly called roundtables with coffee) are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and have a designated topic and discussion leader or speaker. Registrants sign up and pay a fee (usually $15) that covers coffee and bagels; additional breakfast items are offered for sale outside the meeting room.
  • P.M. Roundtables (formerly called roundtables with lunch) are scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. and have a designated topic and discussion leader or speaker. Registrants sign up and pay a fee (usually $40) that covers lunch.

The discussion leader’s fee for the roundtable will be paid by HPSS. A roundtable discussion is limited to 10 participants, including the discussion leader, so participants have the opportunity to discuss important health policy statistics problems in depth with an expert. Serving as a discussion leader does not count against the one-presentation limit at JSM.

If you have an idea for a roundtable and are interested in being a discussion leader, email your name, professional affiliation, and a brief description of your topic to HPSS program chair-elect, Yulei He, at he@hcp.med.harvard.edu. If you would like to nominate someone, also email the name and professional affiliation of your nominee with a brief description of their topic to He.
