The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and National Science Foundation (NSF) are accepting nominations for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM).

Both individuals and organizations are sought. Nominees should have demonstrated at least five years of excellence in mentoring students, trainees, and/or early career scientists and engineers from under-represented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) groups. These include women, people with disabilities, under-represented racial and ethnic minorities, and individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds and some geographic regions (such as urban and rural regions).

Individual PAESMEM awards recognize exceptional individual mentors who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents in industry, academia, primary and secondary education, military and government, non-profit organizations, and foundations.

Organizational PAESMEM awards recognize organizations that demonstrate exceptional mentoring. Organizations must be affiliated with a U.S. corporation, educational institution or agency, military or government agency, non-profit organization, or foundation.

Awardees receive a $10,000 honorary presidential award and are invited to participate in recognition events and meetings with STEM policy leaders in Washington, DC.

NSF would be pleased to co-host a targeted PAESMEM webinar for your employees and/or organizational members to learn more about eligibility and how to prepare the nomination materials. Complete nominations are due on June 5. If you have any questions, email paesmem@nsf.gov.
