SPES also will sponsor “Methods for Designing & Analyzing Mixture Experiments,” a short course by John Cornell and Greg Piepel, on October 16 in advance of the Fall Technical Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Mixture experiments involve changing the proportions of the components of a mixture that make up a product and then observing the resulting changes in the product’s characteristics. This short course will provide an overview of various approaches and methods used in designing and analyzing generic form of ativan these experiments. The course is designed for anyone (statistician or non-statistician) wanting to know about these statistical methods.

Cornell is professor emeritus with the department of statistics and agricultural experiment station at the University of Florida. He has worked as a consultant in mixture experiments for the past 45 years and has been an active researcher, with more than 150 publications in mixture experiments and other areas. He is the author of Experiments with Mixtures (3rd edition, 2002) and a Fellow of the ASA and American Society for Quality.

Piepel is a laboratory fellow in the Applied Statistics and Computational Analysis group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, operated by Battelle. He has applied mixture experiment techniques to a variety of problems over the past 33 years and has been an active researcher in the mixture experiment field, with more than 130 publications and technical reports in mixture experiments and other areas. Piepel is a Fellow of the ASA.
