1 November 2013 55 views No Comment

The ASA invites nominations and applications for the position of editor of the The American Statistician (TAS) and Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports (JQAS).

TAS publishes articles of general interest to the statistical profession. Articles address topics that are important to a broad group of statisticians and ordinarily are not highly technical.

JQAS is a statistics journal that publishes articles addressing questions from a wide variety of sports and dealing with subjects such as tournament structure, frequency and occurrence of records over time, measurement of performance of athletes, and ranking of teams.

For both journals, the new editor will serve from 2015 through 2017, with the transition beginning late summer or early fall of 2014.

To apply or send in a nomination, include the name of the journal, the person’s name, email address, and a brief description of his or her qualifications to journals@amstat.org. The search committee will contact each nominee to see if she or he is interested in applying.

The deadline for nominations for both journals is December 6.

All nominations and applications should be sent electronically to journals@amstat.org. Applications should be sent no later than January 15, 2014, and include a CV, names of three references, and letter of interest in the position that includes a brief statement describing the vision for the publication, directions the candidate would pursue, and contributions she or he would make if selected as editor.
