The National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS) celebrated its 25th anniversary as an organization at a reception held during the Joint Statistical Meetings in Seattle this past August. As part of the celebration, NISS Director Nell Sedransk presented Ingram Olkin, one of the founders of NISS, with a book describing the history of the organization.
Many of Olkin’s former students and research collaborators were on hand for the celebration.
The history of NISS will be published in Statistics and Public Policy in early 2016.
