A special feature of the Joint Statistical Meetings is the ASA President’s Address and Awards, during which the Founders Award winners are announced and the new ASA Fellows are inducted.

2022 ASA President Katherine Ensor led a JSM late-breaking session urging the statistical and data science communities to propose mathematical sciences research institutes (MSRIs) in response to the National Science Foundation’s current quinquennial call from its Division of Mathematical Sciences.

The Undergraduate Statistics Project Competition encourages the development of data analysis skills, enhances presentation skills, and recognizes outstanding work by undergraduate statistics students.

Three hundred twenty-one statistics educators gathered in State College, Pennsylvania, May 30–June 3 at the tenth United States Conference on Teaching Statistics (USCOTS) to exchange ideas and provide mutual support.

First-place winners received $300, a certificate, and grade-appropriate graphing calculators provided by Texas Instruments. Second-place winners received $200 and a certificate, third-place winners received $100 and a certificate, and honorable mentions received certificates.

The theme for JSM 2024 is “Statistics and Data Science: Informing Policy and Countering Misinformation,” and it’s time to submit invited session proposals.

The St. Louis Union Station Hotel served as the backdrop for the 2023 Symposium on Data Science and Statistics, which welcomed attendees from across academia, industry, and government.

Members of the Committee on Scientific Freedom and Human Rights will revisit Jabine’s work touching on global governance, the ASA, and the intersection of statistics and human rights.
