The 2017 Fall Technical Conference will be held at the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 5–6, 2017. The deadline for abstract submissions is February 28, 2017.
The Spring Research Conference on Statistics in Industry and Technology will take place at Rutgers University May 17–19, 2017. Submit an abstract by January 31, 2017.
The outgoing Quality and Productivity Section chair notes how the section participated in a number of conferences in 2016. The section is also sponsoring the Q&P research conference and calling for abstract submissions.
The Medical Devices and Diagnostics Section will sponsor a student paper competition for the Joint Statistical Meetings in Baltimore.

The Government Statistics Section’s second data challenge in 2016 asked participants to analyze the Department of Transportation’s General Estimates System using any statistical and/or visualization tools and methods
SPES had a fantastic year of representation at JSM, sponsoring five invited, two topic-contributed, and four contributed paper sessions, as well as one contributed poster session. Jonathan Hobbs of Jet Propulsion Laboratory was also honored with the Outstanding Presentation Award for the SPES topic-contributed paper.

The Statistical Education Section had a productive JSM 2016, sponsoring or co-sponsoring six invited panels/sessions, seven topic-contributed panels/sessions, eight contributed paper sessions, one traditional poster session, one speed poster session, and 11 roundtables. They also had six members named as new ASA fellows.
The Section on Bayesian Statistical Science was active at the Joint Statistical Meetings in Chicago, Illinois, sponsoring eight invited, 10 topic-contributed, and 14 contributed sessions.
