The Section on Physical and Engineering Sciences honored several presenters with the Outstanding Presentation Award at JSM 2017 in Baltimore.

SPES had a great year of representation at JSM 2017. They also have newly elected officers.

The Physical and Engineering Section sponsors joint section mixer and many sessions at JSM 2017.

SPES has three invited and three topic-contributed sessions at the upcoming Joint Statistical Meetings. The section is also cosponsoring two invited and two topic-contributed sessions and one continuing education course with other sections.

The 2017 Fall Technical Conference will be held at the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 5–6, 2017. The deadline for abstract submissions is February 28, 2017.

The Spring Research Conference on Statistics in Industry and Technology will take place at Rutgers University May 17–19, 2017. Submit an abstract by January 31, 2017.

SPES had a fantastic year of representation at JSM, sponsoring five invited, two topic-contributed, and four contributed paper sessions, as well as one contributed poster session. Jonathan Hobbs of Jet Propulsion Laboratory was also honored with the Outstanding Presentation Award for the SPES topic-contributed paper.
