The 36th ASA Q&P Section’s Quality and Productivity Research Conference will be hosted by American University in Washington, DC, June 11–13.

Q&P Chair Brian P. Weaver reaffirms the section’s purpose and discusses highlights of the coming year, including three conferences, student awards, and one achievement award.

The 62nd Annual ASA/ASQ Fall Technical Conference (FTC) was held October 4–5 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The conference generated a great deal of interest, with the most contributed abstracts received for consideration in recent years and a large number of new participants.

The Quality and Productivity section is sponsoring topic-contributed and contributed sessions at the Joint Statistical Meetings this year.

The Quality and Productivity Section will award Mary G. and Joseph Natrella scholarships to Anh Bui and Xiaowei Yue. Natrella Scholarship winners are chosen for their outstanding teaching, community service, mentoring, leadership, scholarship, and commitment to the pursuit of quality improvement through the use of statistical methods.

The Quality and Productivity Section will offer one invited session and two roundtable discussions at JSM 2018.

The ASA Q&P Section’s 2017 Quality and Productivity Research Conference (QPRC) will be hosted by the University of Connecticut and held in Storrs from June 13–15. The theme of this year’s conference is “Quality and Statistics: A Path to Better Life.”
