At this year’s JSM in Miami Beach, Florida, the Section on Risk Analysis is sponsoring numerous events and invites you to participate in them.

During the last decade, nearly three quarters of all United States citrus was grown in Florida. The relative size of the Florida citrus crop demands that statistically accurate forecasts be made starting in October of each year and continuing throughout the marketing year. To provide these statistically accurate forecasts, the National Agricultural Statistics Service developed a survey program based on objective counts and measurements (rather than subjective reporting from individual producers). During 2011, SPA has followed a number of important policy initiatives that have relevance for ASA members and the statistical community as a whole.
