The intern will become familiar with the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry, applicable standard operating procedures, and programming standards adhered to within the biostatistics and data management department. The intern will work closely with a programmer to provide SAS programming support during both the conduct and reporting phases of a clinical trial. He or she will assist in the production of tables, listings, and figures, using both the company standard macros and custom SAS code. He or she also will be involved in the quality control of the tables, listings, and figures and document the outcome of the testing according to standard operating procedures. Selected interns will participate in research under the guidance of a senior staff member in measurement theory, validity, natural language processing and computational linguistics, cognitive psychology, learning theory, linguistics, speech recognition and processing, teaching and classroom research, statistics, and/or international large-scale assessments. Interns also will participate in seminars and workshops on a variety of topics. Each intern is required to give a presentation about their project at the conclusion of the internship. Interns will receive practical experience and the opportunity to build an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and Eli Lilly and Company. Ideal candidates will have completed at least two years of graduate work and have strong SAS programming skills. Successful candidates will be assigned specific projects to work on under the guidance of a research scientist/principal research scientist (mentor).
