As Practical Significance celebrates the end of its third year, we want to express how grateful we are for our devoted listeners. Thank you! We also mark a special podcast tradition this month by speaking with outgoing ASA board members. Co-hosts Donna LaLonde and Ron Wasserstein “go live” from the second floor of the ASA building during the 2023 fall board meeting, and retiring board members Catherine (Kate) Calder, Kathy Ensor, Alexandra (Alex) Hanlon, Ruixiao Lu, Matilde Kam, and *Bin Nan take the mic.

Listen in as they share anecdotes and reflections that capture their experiences as board members, discuss lessons learned, and pass along favorite memories. This episode is a tribute to their dedication, wisdom, and commitment to the ASA’s mission. And don’t miss Ron’s traditional Top 10 as he gives us his “Top Ten Twisted Statistical Terms.”

A very happy and healthy holiday to you and yours from the Practical Significance team.

*Bin Nan was unable to attend the recording of this episode, but submitted the following remarks:

“During my years as a board member, I have learned a lot about how ASA is running. I very much enjoyed all the discussions among board members and ASA staff about issues, challenges, and opportunities that ASA is facing. We are moving into an exciting, yet very challenging era of AI as we start to feel its immense impact on how we conduct and publish research. This will certainly create a lot more room for the next publications representative to play. As I walk out of the regular board meetings when my term ends, I have a much better picture of ASA as an organization, and how one can contribute to ASA as well as our profession in many different ways. I would be happy to continue my service as a member of ASA by taking on different roles in the future. Thank you, Ron, for your outstanding leadership in ASA!” – Bin Nan
