Michael Kosorok Receives George W. Snedecor Award
COPSS recognized Kosorok’s foundational, creative, and original contributions to mathematical statistics; methodological developments in empirical processes and machine learning; advancement of precision health; and mentoring.
Felicia R. Simpson
Felicia R. Simpson has enjoyed mathematics since she was in elementary school but was inspired to study biostatistics by her mentor, Zephyrinus Okonkwo. She loved the idea of combining mathematics and helping people. She wanted to study biostatistics to understand health disparities from a statistical point of view, especially after losing her mother to a stroke. After earning her PhD in biostatistics, Simpson she started her career at the FDA but transitioned to teaching because she wanted to expose under-represented students to statistics and biostatistics. She is currently an associate professor of statistics and chair in the department of mathematics at Winston-Salem State University.

Rousseeuw Prize for Statistics Comes with $1M Award, Recognition
The King Baudouin Foundation—a large public utility foundation in Belgium—recently established the Rousseeuw Prize for Statistics, which comes with a $1 million award. Nominations will be accepted until March 31.
Biometrics Section Invites Submissions for Early-Career Paper Awards
Travel awards in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to the most outstanding papers in each category to help cover expenses for the 2022 Joint Statistical Meetings.
