The Society for Privacy and Confidentiality Research was formed as a nonprofit corporation with the primary focus of placing the Journal of Privacy and Confidentiality on a sustainable path with respect to people and finances.

For nearly seven years, Stephen Fienberg was the editor-in-chief of the journal. With his passing in 2016, the open access journal needed a new home. Academics and practitioners from all domains are invited to submit their papers.
