The second annual Dallas and Fort Worth Data Science and Statistics Day (D3) took place on Thursday, March 26. D3 consisted of a student poster competition, networking dinner, and colloquium talk by Jeffrey S. Morris, professor of public health and preventive medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.

Drawn to math and real-world problem-solving, Anny-Claude Joseph earned a doctorate in biostatistics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Now, as a faculty member at Wellesley College, she mentors students inspired to pursue careers in public service.

Paul Dixon Minton
Funded primarily by a training grant from the National Institutes of Health for training biostatisticians, Minton established a new Department of Statistics at Southern Methodist University in 1962.
North Texas Chapter Participates in COTS 2017
Nearly 140 participants—including 80 graduate and undergraduate students representing 26 universities, institutions, and companies—attended The Conference of Texas Statisticians 2017.
