Detroit, Ann Arbor Chapter Members Judge Science Fair Projects
Members of the Detroit and Ann Arbor chapters served as professional award judges for the Michigan Science and Engineering Fair on April 6. The event was held at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, with qualifying students from the state’s regional fairs.
Statistical Significance Competition Sees Many Winners
With a record number of 50 submissions to the annual JSM Statistical Significance competition, the ASA Scientific and Public Affairs Advisory Committee (SPAAC) recognized two first-place winners, three second-place winners, and five honorable mentions.

The Survey Research Methods Section had a successful virtual business meeting during JSM on August 5, when they discussed future plans and congratulated the five SRMS members who are among the newest ASA Fellows—Rebecca R. Andridge, Laura Lee Johnson, Rochelle W. Martinez, Matthias Schonlau, and Zhengyuan Zhu—as well as the Washington Statistical Society Student Travel Award winner, Aaron Williams of Georgetown.
