The ASA Biometrics and Mental Health sections chose Felicia Simpson as the 2023 Annie T. Randall Innovator Award winner. The Biometrics Section also named its Byar Award and Student Paper Award winners.

Travel awards in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to the most outstanding papers in each category to help cover expenses for the 2022 Joint Statistical Meetings.

Biometrics Section member Michelle Shardell developed a virtual introduction to biostatistics for sophomores. Upon evaluation, more than 90 percent of responders would recommend the session, and interest in pursuing additional coursework or degree programs in biostatistics increased.

The Biometrics Section will sponsor several invited and topic-contributed sessions, as well as a mixer, at JSM 2021.

Loni Philip Tabb is recognized for her outstanding contributions to statistical methods and dedication to building a diverse health workforce.

The Biometrics Section announced Aaron Hudson from the University of Washington as this year’s David P. Byar Early Career Award winner. The section also honored four with best paper awards.
