The main SPES activities included the Joint Spring Research Conference and Quality and Productivity Conference, and the Fall Technical Conference. Also, the organizing committee is preparing for the 2019 Spring Research Conference.

The Section on Physical and Engineering Sciences had a successful Joint Research Conference in Los Alamos, NM. They also have three newly appointed officers.

The Section on Physical and Engineering Sciences is looking to send experienced applied statisticians to colleges and universities to give a seminar and meet with students and professors as part of the Marquardt Industrial Speakers Program.

The events formerly known as the SPES/Q&P and Risk/SDNS mixers are morphing into one four-section joint mixer during JSM in Vancouver, British Columbia.

SPES has a slate of four invited and three topic-contributed sessions lined up for the upcoming JSM in Vancouver. SPES is also co-sponsoring multiple invited and topic-contributed sessions.

The Physical and Engineering Sciences Section will support four roundtables as part of JSM 2018.

The 2018 Joint Research Conference on Statistics in Industry and Technology will be held June 11–14.
