In 2001, the journal Survey Methodology established an annual invited paper series in honor of Joseph Waksberg to recognize his contributions to survey statistics and methodology. Each year, a prominent survey statistician is chosen to write a paper that reviews the development and current state of an important topic in survey statistics and methodology and reflects the mixture of theory and practice that characterized Waksberg’s work.

Sadly, Greg Campbell, Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao, and Robert Daniel Small passed away recently.

The department of statistics, operations, and data science at Temple University hosted the Conference on Advances in Multiple Testing June 1 in honor of Sanat K. Sarkar for his 70th birthday and 40 years of service.

The ASA Biometrics and Mental Health sections chose Felicia Simpson as the 2023 Annie T. Randall Innovator Award winner. The Biometrics Section also named its Byar Award and Student Paper Award winners.

Thomas (Shlomo) Paul Sternberg passed away June 19, 2023.

The ASA Committee on Applied Statisticians offers a wide variety of sessions relevant for applied statisticians.

The ASA Pride Scholarship Committee recently named Erin Lipman this year’s scholarship recipient. The selection committee chose Sarah Buckingham to receive honorable mention and a $500 scholarship.
