Symposium on Data Science and Statistics

Registration opens January 7 for the eighth annual Symposium on Data Science and Statistics in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, taking place April 28 – May 1. SDSS provides a unique opportunity for data scientists, computer scientists, and statisticians to come together and exchange ideas.

2026 Don Owen Award

The American Statistical Association San Antonio Chapter is accepting nominations from ASA chapters in North America for the 2026 Don Owen Award. The nominee must be a member of the ASA but is not required to be a member of the nominating chapter. The deadline for nominations is February 27.

Statistics Storytellers Interest Group Seeks Members

The American Statistical Association is interested in establishing a new interest group to bring together those curious about communications. The goal of the Statistical Storytellers Interest Group would be to share resources and best practices for creating engaging presentations, receive feedback on talks both technical and general-audience, and collaborate on identifying opportunities to amplify the impact of data-informed insights beyond the traditional channels.

Whether you’re crafting a public talk, writing an op-ed, or preparing for a media interview, this group would provide a supportive community.

To show interest, fill out the online form.

Honor a Colleague with a Fellow Nomination

Anyone can nominate an ASA member for the Fellow Award but may only directly participate in two candidates’ nominations per year. Direct participation includes serving as nominator or writing a letter of support. The deadline to submit nominations is March 1.

Communications from the Executive Director

Did you know ASA Executive Director Ron Wasserstein regularly shares news and updates on social media and the ASA’s website? He also responds to recent policy decisions affecting the statistical community.
