The American Statistical Association/National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Joint Committee on Curriculum in Statistics and Probability will hold the Beyond AP Statistics (BAPS) workshop after the US Conference on Teaching Statistics (USCOTS) on June 4 at Penn State University.

The BAPS workshop is offered for experienced AP statistics teachers and is designed to strengthen and expand teachers’ statistics backgrounds by introducing them to topics just beyond the content of the typical AP Statistics course. Organized by Roxy Peck, the workshop will be divided into four sessions led by the following statisticians:

  • Beth Chance, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
Power: What Is It and Why Do We Care? Understanding Power and Its Implications
  • Robin Lock and Patti Frazer Lock, St. Lawrence University
Bootstrapping to Estimate Margin of Error and Calculate Confidence Intervals
  • Jamie Perrett, Brigham Young University
    Introduction to Data Science
  • Roxy Peck, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
    Multiple Regression

The cost of the workshop is $50, which includes lunch. To register for BAPS, you must go to the USCOTS website, but registration for USCOTS is not required to attend the BAPS workshop. Registration grants are available, however, for teachers who would like to attend USCOTS. Visit the BAPS webpage for details about how to register.
