Q&P Readies for Research Conference

1 February 2011 No Comment

The 28th ASA Quality and Productivity Research Conference (QPRC) will be held at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, Virginia, June 8–10.

The goal of the conference is to improve the quality of products and services and the productivity of industries by identifying new application areas in which statistics can have a significant impact and by stimulating the research and development of better statistical methods. Statistical issues and research approaches drawn from collaborative research will be highlighted.

A. Blanton Godfrey, dean of the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University, will be a featured keynote speaker. Also, a pre-conference short course on statistical engineering will be taught by Ronald D. Snee of Snee Associates and Roger W. Hoerl of GE Global Research on June 7.

All are invited to contribute papers for presentation at the conference. Submit the title, authors’ names, and a short abstract by March 28 to cp@qprc2011.org for consideration.

Scholarships for participation in the conference include the Mary G. and Joseph Natrella scholarships and QPRC student scholarships. Each of the two Natrella scholarships include a $3,500 grant, $500 stipend toward travel and housing expenses, complimentary conference registration, and complimentary pre-conference short course registration. In addition, winners of the Natrella scholarships will give a presentation on their research at the conference.

QPRC student scholarships include complimentary conference registration and, for those students who need to travel more than one hour each way to the conference and choose to stay locally, a $250 travel and living stipend to defray the cost of attending the conference.
