ASA Fellow Kwok-Leung Tsui Recognized Among World’s Most-Cited Researchers

January 3, 2025 Leave a Comment

Kwok-Leung Tsui, a member and fellow of the American Statistical Association, was named one of six researchers from Virginia Tech to appear on the 2024 Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers List. This honor is awarded to fewer than 1 in 1,000 scientists and social scientists worldwide, according to Clarivate. This is Tsui’s second appearance on the list.

Tsui joined Virginia Tech in 2020 and is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award. He is a fellow of several organizations, including the ASA, American Society for Quality, Institute for Operations Research and Management Science, International Society of Engineering Asset Management, and Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He represented the US in the International Organization for Standardization’s Technical Committee on Statistical Methods and is an elected member and council member of the International Statistical Institute.

Tsui’s most-cited work is “State of Charge Estimation of Lithium-Ion Batteries Using the Open-Circuit Voltage at Various Ambient Temperatures,” which he authored with Yinjiao Xing, Wei He, and Michael Pecht. The work appears in the January 2014 issue of Applied Energy.

Tsui’s research interests span data science and predictive analytics, including applications in health care surveillance, personalized health monitoring, systems health management, calibration and validation of computer models, process control, and robust design using Taguchi methods.

The Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers List is compiled annually and identifies researchers whose work has significantly influenced their fields, as demonstrated by the high number of citations their publications have received.
