American Statistical Association member LeRoy T. Mattson of Minneapolis died March 16, 2025. He was born in Virginia, Minnesota, on April 29, 1949. He grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota, and graduated from Hibbing High School and Hibbing Junior College. Mattson then transferred to the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology—now College of Science and Engineering—where he earned his technical degree. He then joined Medtronic, where he worked for 37 years.
Mattson is survived by his brother, Ronald (Mary), and nephews, Scott (Jon Agar) and Brian (Teri). Mattson was preceded in death by his parents, Walfrid and Hilma (Sarppo).
