For statisticians and data scientists just entering the professional world, STATtr@k is the go-to starting point for navigating the early stages of a statistics or data science career. It’s the American Statistical Association’s hub for students, recent graduates, and early-career statisticians and data scientists that offers a clear pathway into the profession. It delivers an internship listing, career and workplace advice, opportunities to earn recognition through awards and competitions, and access to resources and community events. Internships
Each December, STATtr@k and Amstat News publish an updated list of internship opportunities. Most are summer internships with application deadlines in December and January; however, the list is updated throughout the year, giving students and early-career statisticians a place to start their search. In 2026, organizations such as AstraZeneca, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University, and Travelers Insurance Company are searching for interns.
Career and Workplace Advice
STATtr@k feature articles offer insight into résumé building, networking, interviewing, and transitioning into the workforce. Articles such as “How to Conduct a Successful Job Search and Negotiate Your Best Offer,” “Position Yourself for Success to Grab That New Job,” and “Being a Statistician in the Age of Data Science: Fleeting Advice from a Mid-Career, Card-Carrying Statistician” help bridge the gap between academic training and workplace expectations.
