One of the world’s leading experts on the practice of ethics, statistician and Georgetown University professor Rochelle Tractenberg has written two books, Ethical Practice of Statistics and Data Science and Ethical Reasoning for a Data-Centered World. Here, she answers questions about the books and her motivation for writing them.

The fourth UConn Sports Analytics Symposium was supported by a three-year conference grant from the National Science Foundation and included a data challenge.

ASA members Joseph Massaro and Tim Holt passed away recently.

The October 17 announcement states, “Election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.”

ASA member Mulugeta Gebregziabher won an award, while Hollylynne Lee and Gemma Mojica were given a grant.

For the second time in the award’s history, there are two recipients: Montserrat Garcia-Closas and Barry Graubard. Both were chosen for their outstanding mentoring and will be honored during a virtual ceremony.

The first Rousseeuw Prize for Statistics was presented to the winners by his Majesty King Philippe of Belgium.
