Winners Announced for Best STEW/Census at School Lesson
Rebecca Nichols, ASA Director of Education, and Mary Richardson, STEW Editor
The American Statistical Association is pleased to announce the winners of the competition for the best new STatistics Education Web (STEW) lessons using U.S. Census at School data.
STEW is an online resource for free, peer-reviewed lesson plans for K–12 teachers. Census at School is a free, international classroom project that engages students in grades 4–12 in statistical problemsolving using their own real data. Students complete a brief online survey, analyze their class census results, and compare their class with random samples of students in the United States and other countries.
The winning STEW lesson plans were new lessons using U.S. Census at School data with statistical concepts following the recommendations of the Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE) Report: A Pre-K-12 Curriculum Framework, Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, and NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics. We congratulate the following winners and appreciate their efforts to enhance statistics education in the schools.

We also welcome champions to help spread the Census at School program across the United States. For more information about getting involved, please contact Rebecca Nichols at Rebecca@amstat.org.
This design is incredible! You obviously know how to keep a reader
amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog
(well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really
loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
Too cool!
