
Outstanding Statistical Application Award
The Outstanding Statistical Application Award was established in 1986 to recognize papers that demonstrate an outstanding application of statistics in any substantive field. The award is bestowed upon a distinguished individual or individuals based on the impact of the statistical application in addressing a significant problem and the ingenuity and/or novelty of the statistical treatment. Eligible work includes papers, monographs, reports, or other substantive evidence appearing two years prior to the presentation of the award. All nominated work must have been externally peer reviewed and, preferably, formally refereed. The award will be presented during the Joint Statistical Meetings and consists of an engraved award and a $1,000 prize, divided evenly among the winners. Nominations are due by February 15, 2010. Edward C. Bryant Scholarship for an Outstanding Graduate Student in Survey Statistics
The Edward C. Bryant scholarship is awarded based on candidates’ applied experience in survey statistics, performance in graduate school, and potential to contribute to survey statistics. The award recipient is presented with a certificate and $2,500 check during the Joint Statistical Meetings. Applications are due by March 1, 2010. For information and application forms, click here. Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award
The Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award is bestowed upon a distinguished individual based on the correctness, clarity, fairness, brevity, and professionalism of their communications; overall effectiveness on and importance and relevance to the intended audience; impact on the growth and national or regional exposure of statistics; appreciation for and emphasis on the statistical aspects of a particular issue or event; and excellent coverage of research on statistics or statistical issues. The award consists of a traveling cup, which resides with the winner until the next winner is selected. If the winner is unable to take responsibility for the cup, the ASA will display it in its Alexandria office. Nominations are due by March 1, 2010. For information and nomination forms, click here. W. J. Dixon Award for Excellence in Statistical Consulting
The W. J. Dixon award, which includes a certificate and $1,000, is bestowed upon a distinguished individual who has demonstrated excellence in statistical consulting or developed and contributed new methods, software, or ways of thinking that improve statistical practice.
