Founders Award

In 1988, the ASA Board voted to establish the Founders Award to recognize members who have rendered distinguished service to the association. The individual selected will have served the association for an extended time, usually in a variety of leadership roles in section, chapter, committee, editorial, or officer capacities wherein effective service or leadership was provided within the ASA or through ASA outreach to other buy ativan united states organizations. The award recipients will be presented with a certificate and engraved crystal bowl. This award differs from all other ASA awards in that the recipients are not notified in advance; it is presented as a surprise at the awards ceremony during the Joint Statistical Meetings. W. J. Youden Award in Interlaboratory Testing

The W. J. Youden Award was established in 1985 to recognize publications that make outstanding contributions to the design and/or analysis of interlaboratory tests or describe ingenious approaches to the planning and evaluation of data from such tests. The award is bestowed upon a distinguished individual whose publications have appeared or been accepted for publication in a professionally refereed journal or monograph series during the given year or the two immediately preceding years. Each recipient will receive an engraved award and cash prize, presented at the awards ceremony during the Joint Statistical Meetings. The current amount of the prize is $1,000, which is divided evenly among the winners. Nominations are due by March 15, 2010. Click here for nomination information. Statistics in Chemistry Award

The Statistics in Chemistry Award is bestowed upon a distinguished individual or individuals based on their innovative use of statistics to solve a problem in chemistry and the impact of the solution on the problem. In odd-numbered years, the award is presented for a paper published in refereed statistics, chemistry, or chemometrics journals during the previous two years. In even-numbered years, the award is presented for work between a statistician and chemist in an industrial/manufacturing company performed during the previous two years. A statistician, to be eligible for the award, must be a member of the ASA. Nominations are due by March 15, 2010. Samuel S. Wilks Award

The Samuel S. Wilks Award is bestowed upon a distinguished individual who has made contributions to the advancement of scientific or technical knowledge, ingenious application of existing knowledge, or successful activity in the fostering of cooperative scientific efforts that have been directly involved in matters of national defense or public interest. A prize of $1,500 and an engraved award will be presented at the 2010 Joint Statistical Meetings. Nominations are due by March 15, 2010. For nomination information, click here.
