In honor Women’s History Month, we are once again celebrating more than 20 ASA women who work in statistics and data science. We have also included some trailblazers. These accomplished women were chosen because they inspired and influenced other women in their field. Read their biographies and find out why they chose statistics, who influenced them, and what they have accomplished.

Helen Abbe, Professor of Statistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, was an absolutely terrific teacher. On a technical basis she may not belong in this group of renowned women, but without expert teaching and mentoring and advising by Dr. Abbe and other teachers where would any of us be. I was not a statistician, but I learned from Helen Abbe many analytical ideas which I used throughout my career.
