Sallie Ann Keller Elected to National Academy of Engineering
Sallie Ann Keller, 2006 ASA president, has been elected a National Academy of Engineering member.
Keller—division director for social and decision analytics and distinguished professor of biocomplexity and public health sciences at the University of Virginia—was elected for development and application of engineering and statistical techniques in support of national security and industry.
Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Membership honors those who have done one or more of the following:
- Made outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice, or education, including significant contributions to the engineering literature
- Pioneered new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering
- Developed/implemented innovative approaches to engineering education
This year, the NAE elected 87 new members and 18 international members through a year-long process. Individuals in the newly elected class will be formally inducted during a ceremony at the NAE’s annual meeting in Washington, DC, on October 4.
