Beimar Iriarte came to statistics at a later stage in life. After earning a master’s in biochemistry and working on developing clinical laboratory methods, he realized the importance of statistics in experiment design and analysis, so he earned a master’s degree in statistics. He then continued with courses beyond the program. Iriarte applies statistics to biochemical assays, marker discovery, development, and diagnostic and analytical performance evaluation, integrating laboratory science, statistics, and metrology.

Iriarte has promoted STEM to minority students by speaking and organizing science events at schools. He is also active in his company’s diversity and inclusion employee groups. Outside of work, he is a linguist aficionado, a six-time marathoner, and a proud father.
