Carlos I. Alatorre, currently senior director of Lilly Research Laboratories Medical and Clinical Development at Eli Lilly Services India Private Limited, is responsible for providing strategic leadership and driving new capabilities, best practices, and innovation on scientific research design, delivery, and analytics across the Lilly global portfolio. Previously, he was senior director of real-world analytics and responsible for driving strategic transformation and leadership for the global statistics and analytics team specializing in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE). He also served as director of research in diabetes, oncology, and biomedicines within the Global Patient Outcomes and Real-World Evidence organization, where he led the scientific research agenda and the generation and dissemination of RWE focused on improving patient access to medicines and patient-connected care and outcomes.

Alatorre joined Lilly in 1996 and has contributed to the formation and advancement of significant scientific and statistical capabilities. These include the EXPERT Research Design Network (focused on observational and pragmatic RWE research), Lilly Datamart (focused on real-world data), Lilly FDAMA hub (focused on the US Food and Drug Administration Modernization Act, Section 114), and the scientific strategy and implementation of value-based arrangements (VBAs).

His peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and scientific blogs include scientific topics across several disease states and statistical applications focused on RWE, comparative effectiveness research, heterogeneity of treatment response, and health education. Alatorre’s recognitions throughout his career include numerous patient access excellence awards and several market excel awards, as well as Lilly’s highest and most prestigious honor—the Lilly Chairman’s Ovation Award—for enhancing scientific research and statistical productivity.
