Celebrating Women in Statistics and Data Science

1 March 2024 1,306 views 3 Comments
In honor of Women’s History Month, we are once again celebrating ASA women who work in statistics and data science. These 11 accomplished women were chosen because they are leaders and mentors to many in their field. Click on each picture below to learn why they chose statistics, who influenced them, and what they have accomplished.

As an added feature, we asked three former ASA Presidents—Kathy Ensor, Sally Morton, and Wendy Martinez—to share with us their career highlights, role models, and advice. Download this 11 x 17 poster to see what they had to say.

Thank you for your service and contributions! Celebrating our successful woman colleagues on International Women’s Day is crucial for acknowledging and appreciating the invaluable service and contributions of our woman colleagues to society, culture, economy, and politics, while also spotlighting the ongoing struggle for gender equality and women’s rights. It serves as a reminder of the progress made and the work still needed to achieve true equality worldwide.

Congratulations to all of these amazing women. Big shout out to Maria DeYoreo and Susan Paddock from whom I’ve learned a great deal during my career in health services research.
