Nominations for the Jeanne E. Griffith Mentoring Award will be accepted beginning in January 2015. This recognition is awarded annually to a supervisor, technical director, team coordinator, or other member of federal, state, or local government statistical staff for his or her efforts in supporting the work and developing the careers of junior statisticians.

During the last decade, nearly three quarters of all United States citrus was grown in Florida. The relative size of the Florida citrus crop demands that statistically accurate forecasts be made starting in October of each year and continuing throughout the marketing year. To provide these statistically accurate forecasts, the National Agricultural Statistics Service developed a survey program based on objective counts and measurements (rather than subjective reporting from individual producers).
