A Pat on the Back for Our Longtime Members
I want to take this opportunity to thank the longtime members of our association. When I read through the list (see April 2010 issue of Amstat News) of these members, I am always impressed. Here is the “who’s who” of our profession and, in particular, our association. They have a lot to be proud of, both personally and professionally. This list includes ASA presidents, vice presidents, board members, and executive directors, as well as many award winners.
ASA President Appointed to NSF Directorship
ASA President Sastry Pantula was recently appointed Division Director for Mathematical Sciences in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Directorate at the National Science Foundation.
San Antonio Chapter Welcomes ASA President Sastry Pantula
Sastry Pantula, ASA president, visited the San Antonio Chapter on March 29 and gave a seminar titled “GIVE to ASA.” He also discussed his focus areas within the strategic plan—Growth, Impact, Visibility, and Education—and presented the excellent progress the four working groups for those focus areas have made so far.
