Giving Day is a day when members and friends of the ASA come together to make a lasting impact so the ASA can provide programs leading to a world that relies on data and statistical thinking to drive discovery and inform decisions.

This year, we decided to go back to where it began and hold ASA Giving Day in conjunction with the fall board of directors meeting. By the end of Giving Day, 146 donors gave nearly $56,000.

ASA members’ desire to get involved and make a difference for the statistics and data science communities was on full display during JSM 2022 in Washington, DC.

A world that relies on data and statistical thinking to drive discovery and inform decisions is the vision of the American Statistical Association. Building on the work of past ASA presidents, Kathy Ensor has focused on adding “with statisticians leading the way” to that vision.

ASA President Wendy Martinez called to order the final regular meeting of the ASA Board on November 18. The board met via videoconference over a three-day period.

On October 2, members posted messages of hope and encouragement, signed up to volunteer, and donated nearly $69,000 in support of ASA programs.

Amanda Malloy, the ASA’s director of development, shares an example of what the ASA is doing to inspire kids and improve statistics education by providing innovative resources to educators.

In 2019, we raised more than $233,000 for ASA programs and initiatives from more than 991 donors. Thank you for your support!

ASA President Karen Kafadar convened the final ASA Board meeting of 2019 at the ASA headquarters November 22–23. The 2019 Board of Directors were joined by the incoming 2020 board members.
