Registration Open for USCOTS 2021
Registration is open for the US Conference on Teaching Statistics (USCOTS), to be held virtually June 28 – July 1 with pre-conference workshops starting June 24. The conference theme is Expanding Opportunities.
Keynote presentations will be given by Rebecca Nugent of Carnegie Mellon, Data Feminism authors Catherine D’Ignazio and Lauren Klein of MIT and Emory, respectively, and Alana Unfried of California State University – Monterey Bay. A keynote panel discussion, “Expanding Horizons and Fostering Diversity,” will feature Felicia Simpson of Winston-Salem State University, Jaqueline Hughes-Oliver of North Carolina State University, Jamylle Carter of Diablo Valley College, Prince Afriyie of the University of Virginia, and Samuel Echevarria-Cruz of Austin Community College.
In addition, the conference program includes the following:
- Opening and closing sessions with five-minute presentations
- Interactive breakout sessions
- Posters-and-beyond sessions
- Birds-of-a-feather discussions
- Speed mentoring
- Pre-conference workshops
- Exhibitor technology demonstrations
- An awards ceremony
The conference registration fee is $25, which can be reduced to the following:
- $15 for those affiliated with a CAUSE member institution
- Free for those who create a short video for the SPARKS Challenge
- Free for those for whom any fee would be a burden
