Two Given Ellis R. Ott Scholarship for 2025–2026 Academic Year
Each year, the Ellis Ott Scholarship Governing Committee awards two $7,500 scholarships to promising master’s and PhD candidates pursuing advanced degrees in statistics and related disciplines. This year’s recipients are Blessed Mbogo and Aubree Krager.

Distinguished professor Noel Cressie at the University of Wollongong has been awarded the 2026 Jerome Sacks Award. The Sacks award recognizes sustained, high-quality, cross-disciplinary research involving the statistical sciences.
Nominations Sought for 2028 Waksberg Award
The journal “Survey Methodology” established an annual invited paper series in honor of the late Joseph Waksberg to recognize his outstanding contributions to survey statistics and methodology. Each year, a prominent survey statistician is chosen to write a paper that reviews the development and current state of an important topic in survey statistics and methodology.

Emmanuel Candès, Camillo De Lellis Awarded Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences
The 2026 Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences has been awarded to both Emmanuel Candès and Camillo De Lellis for their breakthrough contributions in mathematics. The award annually honors outstanding achievements in astronomy, computer science, life science and medicine, and mathematical sciences.
