Enjoying another year in a long-standing tradition as a joint special awards team at the Southeast Michigan Science Fair, the Detroit and Ann Arbor chapters judged projects on March 8. The purpose was to recognize and encourage the students’ incorporation of statistical methods in their science projects.

Chapters Team to Award Science Fair Projects in Michigan
Continuing a two-decades–long tradition as a joint special awards team at the Southeast Michigan Science Fair, nine members of the Detroit and Ann Arbor ASA chapters judged projects on March 9. The team gave out three levels of special awards for projects exhibiting varying levels of use of statistics: certificates of recognition, certificates of merit, and awards of excellence.
Mid-Michigan Chapter
The Mid Michigan Chapter held its semi-annual meeting/presentation on April 12, 2010, on the campus of Michigan State University. The guest speaker was Malay Ghosh.
Testing for Unit Roots Topic of Mid-Michigan Presentation
ASA President-elect Sastry Pantula was the guest speaker at the mid-Michigan Chapter’s semiannual presentation on October 7, 2009. The presentation included a talk on the seminal work of D. A. Dickey and Wayne Arthur Fuller on testing for unit roots in time series data.
