Several ASA chapter members judged statistics projects at the Michigan Science and Engineering Fair to promote the field and recognize those students who exhibited effective statistical analyses.

Seven members of the Detroit and Ann Arbor chapters recently judged a poster competition at the Michigan Science and Engineering Fair (MSEF). The MSEF showcases the 50 best posters from high-school-level regional science fairs in Michigan. Mallory Snyder from Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy took home the top prize.

Common Core State Standards for Mathematics include much more statistics content than previous standards, especially at the middle- and secondary-school levels. To help prepare teachers to teach statistics, a member of the Ann Arbor Chapter developed a seminar called GAISEing into the Statistics Common Core.
