The board will vote in late November on accepting these changes. Per the rules set forth by our constitution and bylaws, the board seeks comments from ASA members on the proposed changes.

Nominations Sought for ASA President-Elect, Vice President Candidates
For the 2021 election, the president-elect will be selected from government and the vice president will be selected from academe.
Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Wendy Martinez Elected ASA President
The membership has voted, and it elected Wendy Martinez, director of the Mathematical Statistics Research Center at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as the 115th president of the American Statistical Association. Before she takes office as president on January 1, 2020, she will serve as president-elect, beginning January 1, 2019. Members also elected Richard De Veaux, professor of statistics at Williams College, as vice president. De Veaux’s term also begins January 1, 2019.

LaVange Elected ASA President; Williamson Elected Vice President
Lisa LaVange, director of the Office of Biostatistics in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, has been elected the 113th president of the ASA. LaVange will serve a one-year term as president-elect beginning January 1, 2017. Her term as president becomes effective January 1, 2018. The ASA membership also elected G. David Williamson, senior science adviser at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as an ASA vice president.
Members also elected several new board members, plus officers for each of the ASA’s 27 sections.
