The C. R. Rao Gallery, capturing C. R. Rao’s life in statistics over 65 years, is now open to the public.
C. R. and Bhargavi Rao Prize
The C. R. and Bhargavi Rao Prize was established to recognize outstanding and influential innovations in the theory and practice of mathematical statistics, international leadership in directing statistical research, and pioneering contributions by a recognized leader in the field of statistics.

Trip to Sri Lanka Warm, People Welcoming
As 2011 ASA president, Nancy Geller was invited to be a plenary speaker at the International Statistics Conference last December in Columbo, Sri Lanka. Here, she tells us about her experience.
Royal Statistical Society Awards Guy Medal in Gold to Rao
The Royal Statistical Society presented the Guy Medal in Gold to Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao on June 29. Rao also was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka.

AIMSCS Inspires Students to Pursue Statistics
Although statistics is a young discipline, it has grown to be an essential tool for all areas of human endeavor in the last century. Indeed, there is demand by government, industry, and academia throughout the world for statisticians to help in the decisionmaking process. Therefore, it is one of the aims of the C. R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS) to encourage talented young students to pursue statistics careers.
Conferences Celebrate C. R. Rao’s 90th Birthday
Two recent conferences celebrated the 90th birthday of C. R. Rao, a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. The International Conference on Frontiers of Interface Between Statistics and Sciences in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, and The Advances in Statistical Science conference, which took place in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
Mentor a Statistician Today
I am proud that our association has about 18,000 members from such diverse backgrounds, but I would love to see our membership be much higher. As I meet our members and many potential members at various conferences and chapter meetings, it is clear we can enhance mentoring of young statisticians. They are the future of our association and our profession.
