ASA Takes Part in Annual Capitol Hill Exhibition
For the fourth consecutive year, the American Statistical Association (ASA) participated in the annual Capitol Hill Exhibition May 7 sponsored by the Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF). CNSF is a coalition of 130 professional societies, universities, and other stakeholders who work together to support the budget of the National Science Foundation (NSF). The annual event started in 1995.
Statisticians Participate in 2nd Annual Climate Science Day
Five ASA members participated in the second annual Climate Science Day (CSD) on Capitol Hill February 1. Co-organized by the ASA and jointly sponsored by the ASA and other professional societies, the event’s primary purpose is for scientists to develop relationships with congressional staff so they will consult the scientists on climate-related questions.
Sharon Hessney: From Wall Street to Capitol Hill
ASA member Sharon Hessney left a career on Wall Street to teach math to high-school students in Boston and has since become a tireless advocate for the advancement of statistics education.
ASA Participates in Capitol Hill Event Supporting NSF
The ASA was represented by Peter Craigmile of The Ohio State University during a Capitol Hill annual event on May 11 that highlighted research funded by the National Science Foundation.
