Student Competition: Can You Improve a Process?
The Section on Quality and Productivity (Q&P) is pleased to announce a student team competition. The goal of the contest is to enhance the statistical expertise of students who are interested in a challenge and want to apply their training in statistical thinking and process improvement to a realistic situation. Students who compete will have the opportunity to develop their statistical talents and increase their marketability in the work force.

Two Named ‘Significant’ Winners
Richard A. Forshee and Mark O. Walderhaug, both of the FDA, were recently named winners of the “Statistical Significance” poster competition, a unique contest conducted by the ASA Scientific and Public Affairs Advisory Committee during this year’s Joint Statistical Meetings in Washington, DC.
Project Competition Sees 47% Increase in Entries
The Southern California Chapter held its fourth annual Project Competition for AP Statistics Students on May 30 at the City of Hope Cancer Center in Duarte, California. The competition attracted 47 teams from seven schools—a 47% increase in entries from last year.
