A new initiative by the ASA’s Committee on International Relations in Statistics and Statistics Without Borders has been uniting statisticians from around the world with a common interest in learning about popular and emerging statistics topics.

Rachel Harter was inspired to study statistics during an internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Being an academic was not her calling, so she jumped at the chance to work as a survey statistician. Now she oversees the statistical work on RTI’s largest survey project.
Federal Committee on Statistical Methodology Plans Research Conference
The Federal Committee on Statistical Methodology 2012 Research Conference will be January 10–12, 2012, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Sessions will feature papers and demonstrations authored by government, private sector, and academic researchers from six countries. All sessions will include an open discussion, and some sessions will include a formal discussion.
