International Representative 2011
Raymond Chambers

I am honored to be nominated for the position of International Representative on the ASA Board of Directors. The ASA is arguably the most influential professional statistics body in the world, with an international influence on how statistics are collected and used. The large number of internationally based statisticians who are members of the ASA, reflects this impact. I see the role of International Representative on the ASA Board of Directors as a means by which this international membership can contribute to discussions surrounding ASA policies and initiatives, particularly those that involve the interaction of the ASA with national statistical associations and organizations.
I also regard some of the flagship ASA activities (e.g. the JSM) as having an extremely important international dimension, and will seek to ensure the interests of the ASA’s international members are taken into account.
