A newly formed group of retired and active federal senior statisticians has been meeting in and around Washington, DC, for lunch once a month to reminisce about their careers and discuss the latest developments in government statistical programs. The group was aptly named the Senior Statisticians Society. The August meeting was held at Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant, located in the Friendship Heights section of Washington, DC. In attendance were founders Tom Jabine, Mel Kollander, and Mike Fleming. Other attendees included Fritz Scheuren, Monroe Sirken, Cliff Bailey, Barry Nussbaum, Ruth Allen, Clyde Tucker, and Carl Pierchala.
