In April, Dick DeVeaux visited the department of mathematical sciences at West Point. He observed an introductory statistics course and even “marched” into the mess hall for lunch with the West Point cadets. He participated in a small group discussion of the curriculum, including the academy’s new applied statistics and data science major, and gave a talk titled, “Data Science for All!! Sure! But When, Where, How, and Why?”
