ASA member Michael Jordan was one of eight distinguished faculty scientists and engineers selected for the 2021 class of Vannevar Bush Faculty Fellows. The fellowship is the US Department of Defense’s most prestigious single-investigator award and supports basic research with the potential for transformative impact.
Known as the Michael Jordan of machine learning, Jordan is the Pehong Chen Distinguished Professor in the department of electrical engineering and computer science and the department of statistics at the University of California, Berkeley.
Jordon’s research project for the fellowship will be on intelligence and networks: conjoined research in machine learning, microeconomics, and dynamical systems.
The Vannevar Bush Faculty Fellowship aims to advance transformative, university-based, fundamental research.
